advice for girls in recruitment

by:

Please take a minute to read this post and then do your best to stay off of this website for good. Coming from an upperclassman on campus who has spent her entire time here in Greek life, I'm going to get a few pieces of advice out there to as many girls as I can.

Recruitment is a competition, there is absolutely no reason that girls would come on here and talk highly of other sororities, especially at this time. As you can probably guess, that means that EVERYTHING on here is likely (yep, you guessed it!) self-ranking or bashing of other houses. It's not the truth and it's unrepresentative of huge organizations that are CONSTANTLY changing.

On that topic, keep in mind that a lot of the ranks on here go back to like 2012. Houses change every year with every pledge class so the little percentage number next to someones house is not even possibly representative of girls who are there, and it's also not possible to slap a number on a group of 200 girls and be able to describe them.

Lastly, I understand the desire to know what you're going into. I used this site before recruitment because I thought I could find out about what girls were like. Obviously because of the reasons listed above, it's just not true and sheds negative light on every single sorority in some way, shape, or form. The best you can do is go into the houses you will be returning to, ask the questions you want to know, and find a place where the girls have made you felt like you would fit right in.

Trying to get this post to stay at the top because this could not be more true. Really wish all the posting on this site would stop, especially during recruitment.
