they ask where you vacation - if you say northwoods cabin vs. Eurpe/Austrialia/Snow skiing out west/etc.
Or like hobbies - horsebackriding or waterskiing vs. running.
Its unfortuate but most of the people in the top houses will care but not all, it just depends on who interviews you. There are 1 or 2 bottom houses that care a lot too. Just be yourself, if someone cuts you over that then you don't want to be in a house where people can get away with enforcing that kind of standard anyways. Good luck, you will be fine, all of the houses that do not care about Money, or where it is very unlikely your interviewer will care, are really strong at UW and fun to be in.

First off, there is no top 5. There is a top tier and its Kappa, GPhi and DG (in this order too--but will vary slightly based on personal opinion). There are wealthy, middle class and not so well off girls in all these houses. Yes, there are certain houses that care more about this stuff but I don't think it's about excluding people but more about finding common ground.

Girls ask where u vacation because it is a better conversation starter than what is ur major. I am very active in Greek life and have many friends in ALL houses and every house has the same amount of girls who are paying rent/dues on their own and have very open money problems. It is nothing to be ashamed of, and many houses that have rep for only caring about money have great scholarship programs they r very proud about. Idk where this rumor came from.

It's not a rumor, do you really think they (especially Kappas) don't care about money? They love it.! People without it get in but you are preferred if you have it. Even the girls who struggle to pay and etc. usually want the girls with rich parents because it helps house prestige. DG is the exception. A lot of girls with rich parents don't want to feel filter by people who pay their own stuff. Plus some of the people that have money problems will get frustrated with their money problems and try to make those who don't have money problems feel guilty or lazy. I've seen it many times
