The houses will probably look at them if they are on the fence about you but it's not mandatory to have them. It's not like in the south.

I got two rec letters. Not saying it was me or the houses but I went with a different house. The rec helped with one house that I ended up dropping and the other house dropped me first rounds. so it doesn't seem to matter unless you're super on the fence or DG
