rush again?
by: gonna be sophomoreIs it embarrassing to rush next fall if I rushed this past fall and didn't get a bid? I heard a lot of girls didn't get bids but if I'm one of the few who didn't and the sororities know that I didn't get a bid when I walk in the door I would for sure be a little embarrassed. Do they even know/ care about my rush last fall? Thanks for any advice! :)

^^that applies to every house though. if EVERY house dropped you before, they're twice as likely to do the same next time around. since you're not in a house currently, you obviously didn't get a bid anywhere (or you declined/ dropped out of rush/suicide bid). if this is your second time going through. So it depends more on if they know you already went through (which they will probably ask about at some point since you won't be a freshman).

it doesn't look good to go through fall recruitment a second time without a valid reason. your chances don't increase as you get older- it's the exact opposite.

well yeah they would care if someone rerushed, but i don't think anyone would remember a specific girl who rushed a year ago unless something was really off.

Thanks for the comments you guys!! If it does come up during a rush event (i.e "Why didn't you rush last year?"), what do you think I should say? Just that I didn't end up with a bid but still love the idea of being in a sisterhood so I tried again? Or say I dropped out? I'm not sure what to do!

just because they don't know doesn't mean they won't find out! I would NOT mention that you didn't get a bid, because that WILL create bias on top of no longer being a freshman! You do want to be honest, but you also don't want to shoot yourself in the foot. Maybe say that you chose to drop out of the process or that you were still adjusting to college, but make sure you do have a reason prepared, or be able to steer the conversation away from your grade level and towards the qualities about yourself that truly matter.

yeah sophomores get bids all the time maybe not to top houses but they do get bids. you probably missed informal rush but if you dont want to do formal rush next fall you could wait until that winter to do informal rush at the houses that do, usually agd, aephi, zeta, phi rho alpha, phi sigma rho. and some do informal rush in the fall too

not sure if zeta or agd will informal rush next year. it all depends on if they're at campus average or not, and it doesnt look like either are far

AGD will almost definitely do it since girls drop (or graduate), just like other houses, but informal is NOT a guarantee since it's not like a house will take just anyone. You could technically try formal rush again, and if that doesn't go well, AOPi!

We'll see, if they get a pc as big as theirs was with as few drops as this year then maybe not. Every house has drops and graduates...

lol I wasn't trying to call them out specifically, but they had enough girls rejecting bids/ dropping that they pretty much had COB since the beginning of the year. Most other houses have drops/graduates, but there are houses that have more than others..

Sororities would only know that you didn't get a bid from their house (which is obvious due to you not being in their sorority)
