help, not sure what to do
by: Bid Day probsSo I'm a freshman and I got a bid but it was my third choice on pref night and I didn't love them, bid day was fun but not great. Plus a girl in one of my top two houses literally texted and told me I had a bid but then I didn't end up with them...at this point I'm lost and confused. I'm giving this other sorority a try but if I don't end up liking it, should I drop and rush again as a sophomore?

Everyone that goes to a pref party is on the bid list. You just weren't high enough on the bid list to be matched to them. Stick it out. Just because it wasn't your first choice doesn't meet you won't fall in love with it. Lots of girls got nothing this year so you should be happy!!! Make the most of it....lots of people are in your shoes or worse!!!!

That girl who texted you probably has no idea if you had a bid or not. That was not nice of her to send you that text. As the others said, give it time. I hated bid day and was totally overwhelmed. But then I started hanging out with my pledge sisters and some of the other girls and I loved it. Bid Day is usually crazy and if you talk to other girls they are probably feeling the same way. Get to know some of the girls in your dorm who are in your pledge class and give it another shot. You aren't guaranteed a bid next year.

My freshmen year I was in the same situation. I got my 3rd choice house but so did all my friends from welcome week. They decided to stick with it and ended up loving every moment in the sorority. I was still too upset I didn't get my first choice and dropped the day after bid day. I regretted ever second of it. Just like "try it" said, you arnt garenteed a spot next year in recruitment to even get a bid. If you hang out for at least a month I garentee you will find sisters that will make you feel the same way you did at your first choice house.
