didn't get a bid

by: Out of State

I am from out of state and my Rho just called me and told me I didn't get a bid. I'm really disappointed. I want to rush in sophomore year but I don't want to go through all the emotions again. Will they even let me rush again if I rushed this year?

I am so sorry this happened to you. You can definitely go through recruitment again as a sophomore. Some sororities will also have winter recruitment and I think a few might give continuous open bids. You should let your rho know that you're still interested in going greek and she can explain your options. Good luck and keep your head up!

I thought everyone got a bid at preference night? They set quota after third sets depending on the number of girls still rushing at that point. How does this happen?

Whenever a sorority does not meet quota they have tge option of COB: continous open bidding

If girls do not list all of their choices, they might not get a bid.

I don't know if any houses still COB but for winter rush you will usually have 4 options, AGD, AEPhi, Phi Rho Alpha, and Phi Sigma Rho. PSR is for engineers/science majors only, though, and it's possible that AEPhi might have hit quota after SDT got kicked off. So your best possibilities are AGD and Phi Rho Alpha. You may check them out and decide you really like one of them!

Phi Rho Alpha is not part of Michigan Panhellenic and they are not a national sorority. The implications of this make me hesitate to recommend PRA to PNMs.

I say out of state because it can be harder to find your community when you don't know anyone and home is so far away. I thought rushing would help me find my place but it did not go that way, which is why I am considering rushing again in sophomore year.
