greek life

by:

I grew up surrounded by SEC schools & their game days and the girls who went Greek at those schools. What is Greek life like here? How many swaps do yall have? Is it ok to dress somewhat preppy if that's just how you've always dressed? I don't want to look completely out of place or like I'm some TSM girl, but my sorority & 90% of the girls at my school wore oversized tshirt, nikes, and chacos to class. I'm considering affiliating because I love being Greek I'm just trying to figure out the vibe here. Thanks!

U of M Greek Life is different from most greek life communities in that everyone (for the most part) in it prioritizes school and are involved on campus outside of it. People come to U of M for its education, not Greek Life. Work hard, play hard is probably the best way I would describe the Greek Life scene here.

I didn't mean to sound like Greek life was all I cared about. I am extremely focused on my academics and intend to go to law school as are a lot of girls at my former school. We just had a lot of socials and swaps and from reading these posts tailgating is a whole different thing and yall pre-assign who you pregame with. I was just asking the General vibe & how it was.

Honestly, as long as you are confident you can dress however you want. Don't let the more "dark clothing/hipster scene" of Ann Arbor defer you from affiliating. If you strut around in Norts all year long though you will be cold (just a heads up). Since it is pretty much under 40degrees 85% of the school year. So the big thing here is Hunter's, leggings, over sized long sleeved shirt, and a puffy vest.

As far as the pregame thing goes, we do have pregame partners but its more of a formality. By the end of the day people move all over depending on who they want to be with, it really only matters for wake ups

well this might be weird, but i'm going to an SEC school but have grown up in ann arbor my whole life. There's definitely some preppy people here, especially u of m students. You'll find tons of vineyard vines wearing boys and a lot of girls wearing jacks. Not sure about the whole big tshirt thing though, that's not as popular.

sounds like you went to Ole Miss? I know because I am considering that school and that is how all the sorority girls dresses there!

I wish you the best of luck by the way:)
