Will rankings ever change?
by: genuine confusion
I'm a senior here, and frat and sorority rankings have literally never changed. And you can't say "they don't matter," because a low ranking limits who wants to mix with you. Some houses that were top when I was a freshmen are mid asf now and vice versa, but nobody views them any differently. How can a lower tier chapter even change their reputation? And what does it really take for a top house to drop in rankings?
Genuinely curious about this. Plus, I dropped my fraternity fall of my junior year, so I'm kind of out of the loop.
#1 by: they do
they do change, especially for frats cuz they get kicked off or start new all the time. in the early/mid 2010s, lambda, pikapp, theta xi, dsig were bottom tier. shady mixed with kappa and tridelt before they took a bunch of weird dudes and their nationals had to restart their chapter (much better now allgedly).
allegedly in the 90s, chi o was a top chapter and alpha phi was mid tier. in the 10s sdt and deeph were solid mid tier chapters.
you have to recruit really well and have a good spin to attract members in areas where your chapter is weak, but not all chapters have the foresight or cohesion to do that. people also underestimate how important GPA and involvement are in running a good chapter long term.

Maybe for sororities, but not really for frats. PhiDelt is only top bc all those guys were Ox before they got kicked off and merged. Before Ox, it was SAE. Basically the same lineage of guys for decades, just under different letters.
