the Dude's little apples

I was shopping at Meijer yesterday and when I noticed a shopping cart full of tiny, little apples. Never before had I seen so many little apples in one place. I peered around the produce aisle and I saw none other than the Dude wolfing down little apples. They fit so well in the palm of his great, big, veiny hands, and he scarfed them down one after another. Does anyone know why the Dude only eats little red apples? Or why he consumes them in such great quantities? I pray for the local grocery stores because the Dude is on the prowl.
