I hope to transfer to UM next year in the winter as a sophomore- should I even bother rushing?

you could do a professional fraternity but those too are pretty freshmen-biased. tbh, the only fraternity that would probably give out a bid as a winter semester sophomore would be Kappa Sig, TKE, Zeta Psi. But it's better off not being in a frat than being in one of those three #socialsuicide

I'd still rush regardless, but don't expect much. You might have a chance at lower mid houses like DKE, DU, etc.
