For those rushing in the fall

by: Truth

I would encourage everyone rushing in the fall to allow the “ranks” to influence their decisions as little as possible. It’s understandable that it’s tempting to buy into the hype of this site when deciding where to rush. Obviously there is truth to these rankings in terms of perception of each house within Greek life, but what’s very important to remember, is that these are other people’s perceptions, and should not influence yours. Ranks can be used as a good base line for which houses you are interested in checking out but should not be used as the deciding factor when choosing which bids to accept. You may be way happier at a house that is ranked just below another house that you get a bid from or vis versa. What’s important is finding where YOU fit in the best. You are choosing your best friends for the next four years and hopefully beyond. Don’t feel like you need to force yourself to fit in somewhere because it will make you more popular or cooler. My biggest piece of advice is to try to visit as many houses as you can during welcome week and meet the members. Try to get a feel for which houses you want to rush, and just be as authentically YOU as possible during each event. Whichever house bids you and makes you feel the most at home is where your meant to be. If that ends up being a top house, that’s great. If it doesn’t, that’s totally fine too. Do you. Hope this helps.
