If you are a potential new member...
GET OFF THIS SITE. Browsing through pages full of cattiness, "ranking", and self-promotion will do absolutely no good for you. I know you are all curious about stereotypes and what other people think of each house but in the end this whole process should be about YOU and what YOU want. Usually the girls who post mean comments are either bored with their lives and feel the need to stir up drama or are girls who didn't even get a bid and are bitter about it. If a certain sorority is a "top house" then it will show for itself during recruitment.
There is no ONE stereotype for each house. You will find sooo many different types of girls in each house. Trust me. I can guarantee that EVERY SINGLE HOUSE has party girls, girls who don't go out, smart girls, dumb girls, involved girls, fake girls, down-to-earth girls, pretty girls, not so pretty girls, etc. That's the point of a sorority...to bring together girls who are all different but complement each other at the same time. The best thing you can do for yourself is to go into recruitment with an open mind. That way, you can see for yourself which houses you connect with and can see yourself being a part of based on your OWN OPINION, not someone else's.
That being said, enjoy your summer, go hang out with friends you won't see for a while, get a nice tan, and get excited about coming to Michigan because you're about to embark in the best 4 years of your life, whether you're in a sorority or not.

This is the best post I have read. I am in a sorority at another school and was curious about rush at Michigan because my sister is a freshman there and will rush soon. Seriously, why all the bashing? This site must scare away a lot of girls and guys with all the mean comments.

This is a great response and spot on! Unfortunately, the replies are once again mean and catty and don't represent the Greek system in a postive light at all! As the parent of a Michigan freshman, I'm inclined to tell her to RUN from Rush based on 90% of what's on this site. Very sad!

this site is NOT a representation of actual greek life. its a representation of the small group of people that are self absorbed/self motivated in it. we are not all like this. we all get along and are friends with each other no matter ranking MINUS the few negative people on here. it just comes with any organization, any club, any group of people. there's always negative people out there.

The top three houses are the top three houses and that is the fact. Kappas, Tri Deltas and Alpha Phi get almost everyone they offer a bid to during rush. There are stats that tell how good the houses are, meaning...if they invite a PNM back, they accept. 100% of PNM accept or 30%? This is all data that is use to calculate invitations throughout rush. So, there is no disputing who is the best and worst.
On another note, there are plenty of good houses at Michigan and girls can have a fun sorority experience and be with girls who really want them. AGD seems to get bashed a lot--I am not sure why--kicking someone when they are down is pretty tacky. Lots of girls are very happy in that house and really enjoy greek life. Why ruin it for them --just to be mean?
1500 girls go through rush and the top 10% get in Kappa, TriDelta and Phi. Why not support the other houses so the greek system can be strong.

I thought I wanted aephi or kappa but ended up cut from both after first round. I ended up with only SK and KD to choose from in the end. It wasn't what I thought I wanted but I love my sorority and it worked out as it should have for me. So top or bottom means nothing because I was left with one of each. You'll know which is best for you but make a decision based on how you feel and not what you hear.

I went through rush and had "top houses" left and stuck with it because of greekrank and my friends being judgey towards lower sororities. I wanted to be at the top and stay with my friends. Yet, I ended up dropping because I realized the ones I had at preference weren't for me. In the end, I did COB with a lower tier sorority because I realized those girls were for me and that the stuff said on greekrank wasn't true.
If you are a PNM reading this, every house at Michigan is nice. All the girls are funny, pretty, and there's something for everyone. It's up to you to decide where you fit in, but every sorority has something great to offer! Don't base your opinion off of your friends or off of greekrank.
