The AAIFC is the one that is truly student lead, which allows them to function better and improve while the fraternities in the school's IFC are basically powerless and have to do what the school says even when things don't make sense and actually really hurts them. One example of this is deferred recruitment which starts next fall

The major difference is going to become much more meaningful next year if U of M insists on forcing the IFC to uphold the ban on freshmen rushing during the 2019 fall semester while the AAIFC allows freshmen to rush as normal. Either there's going to be a crazy amount of dirty rushing that is ignored by the IFC and U of M during fall 2019 or else all the existing IFC fraternities will have to join the AAIFC to remain competitive.

At which point everyone currently in the AAIFC will have the advantage

What's the problem with freshman waiting until the winter to rush? They do it that way at a lot of good colleges. Letting kids get adjusted to campus FIRST is better for everyone involved.

Yeah, so that's how freshman rush works now. What UM is not understanding is that the IFC will never be able to stop dirty rushing so instead of fall freshman rush being about one month long, it will be three months long under UM's plan which will make all the problems UM says they care about even worse. But, maybe that is what UM secretly wants?

Sororities have been going to DKE for years even though they were "warned" not to. Speaking from someone in a fraternity in the AAIFC, we had a sorority at our house last week.

The IFC is allowing "DU" (AKA Sig Ep) and "Lambda" (AKA Phi Delt) to have events with sororities without facing penalties. If the IFC took negative action against a sorority that goes to an AAIFC fraternity event, they would be even more blatantly a tool of UM than they are now. And how would this even be legal (i.e., not a violation of equal protection)?
