ranking confusion?

Sorry, but I'm having trouble understanding how people rank frats and sororitys on this site. Like there are people writing ASig has been improving as a frat and then how bad Pike has been doing last year, but they still say Pike is ahead of ASig? Also people say like KKG has had pretty bad pledge classes over the past few years, but they're still ahead of skrappa?
