for girls it matters because the lower the sorority tier, the less attractive u typically are, even tho everyone socials besides maybe aoii. this is kinda true but not rlly important for guys. the lower the frat tier, the less quality of social u have so joining a low tier frat means u rlly wont talk to hot girls and u need to be upper mid or higher to do that. basically, ranks ~generally~ describe a girl's attractiveness and a guy's ability to hook up with hot girls
