is second semester winter rush worth it?

by: Uh

Transferred from MSU and was thinking about rushing. I didn't rush this semester because I knew that I wanted to focus on passing my classes. I have close friends in a few frats who have been telling me that I would easily get a bid, but my question is: Is it worth it?

From what I hear, most people are not involved in Greek Life after sophomore year. I may feel weird going to mixers next fall as a junior. Plus, most people go to the bars with their friends in multiple different houses. Plus, most upperclassmen go to their own tailgates as opposed to tailgating with their PGPs, so I really am not sure if I should do it.

Would anyone be able to shed some light on the pros and cons?

FYI, my issue is not whether or not I will get a bid. I know I will if I rush (closest friends are in a mid tier frat that has taken second semester sophomores pretty regularly).

If you join a frat with a good national reputation it can mean networking opportunities after graduation. Yeah, you may not be too involved as a senior but that alumni network will be with you forever. So I'd go for it.
