winter/cob (sorority)

by: help

rushed as a sophomore and did not get a bid. I'm pretty discouraged about it, and was wondering if it's weird to rush winter as a sophomore? also, if i am eligible for continuous open bidding, will it be weird for me if i join a sorority and will i even fit in? please help!

probably not weird, but the only way you didn't get a bid is if you suicided somewhere. I don't know which house you chose not to write down on your bid card, but the houses that do COB are ones that people are more likely not to write down.

If you signed the slip and didn't get a bid you can't accept a bid for a year, so if you want to rush again you can next YEAR and do COB after that

Actually true, it's to discourage girls from suiciding. But if she got cut before prefs then she's in the clear and can COB if she's really interested

The 2017 NPC rules state you may choose to suicide at formal, and only if you do not receive a bid may you attempt to join via other recruitment events right away.

However, if you suicide and receive a bid from that group but decline it, you are not eligible for more recruitment until the next formal recruitment period (which is normally one year in the future).

If you really want to be Greek, there are groups COBing right now. Contact the office of greek life and find out who, and give those organizations a chance. Being Greek at Michigan is a great experience and will open up doors to new friendships with others in other groups too. Don't worry about tiers. EVERY org here is awesome and affords the same opportunities for sisterhood, leadership and service.

Being in Greek life is better than not! If you didn't like a house during recruitment give them a chance now with cob

Yeah, you have the cob option. There are also off campus/local sororities. phi sigma rho and phi rho alpha and the professional ones. probably wouldn't care if you got a bid or got to prefs if they are not panhel.

Phi rho alpha isn't on Panhellenic and isn't a professional/major-based sorority. Just a local org
