how do people determine tiers for sororities?

How do people know which sorority is in which tier? Also how can a lower tier go up in rankings? Is it something people judge you about if you're bottom tier?

But a lot of people in the discussion forum have similar rankings as to which sorority or frat is in what tier (ex pi and tri delt always on top)

Top tier is technically the sororities and fraternities with the highest retention rate but considering those are usually the most "popular" and sought after houses it is also popular opinion. Top tier is currently Aphi, KKG, DDD, OX and Phi Psi

Your best decision is to make up your own mind. Do you personally know women from each sorority? Does it really matter to you which of the homes those women belong to is "top"? Will their homes cause you or your friends to enjoy more or less "status"? Really?
