final word on tiers
by: trutho
I know this may seem completely foreign to vain Freshmen, but I don't know a single girl who is concerned with the tier system after Freshman year. Most girls stop going to mixers like halfway into their first semester Sophomore year. Once you start going to the bars, you see all the same guys as every other sorority.
I am not saying don't try to go to the house you want, nor am I saying you shouldn't be concerned with social life. If you really want to spend Freshman/Sophomore year at the Pit/Sandlot and think you would have a super fun time partying with AEPi/OX/Pike etc, that's fine. All I am saying is that once you are an upperclassmen (or even a second semester soph) who isn't in a top tier, you aren't gonna feel self-conscious about not being on Tridelt's Tumblr.
If you didn't make the cut for a top tier sorority and settle for something "lower", stop worrying. Make bonds with your pc, enjoy the sisterhood, and have fun. After even a month, you will likely see that you fit where you are and will be glad you didn't slip through somewhere else where you would just be reaping the status benefits.

I firmly disagree. I dropped as a first year and rushed sophomore year and am very happy with my decision. These lower and mid-tier houses are just desperate for legs (and $$$$), so they fill these boards with fear-based propaganda. Rushing as a sophomore is fine.
Study hard freshman year, meet a lot of people, make friends with girls in houses you want to rush next fall. Easy peasy.

Not true. Do the math on dues. Sophomores do rush but best chances are for transfers or those that have not gone through formal rush.
