winter recruitment

Is it looked down upon to drop recruitment and try to do winter recruitment or sophomore recruitment if you're not happy with the options you have left?

rushing as a sophomore is always a gamble because a lot of houses don't take as many sophomores or will even drop you for it. but sometimes rushing as a sophomore is better if you have friends in the house that can get you in but it all depends on which house. I would stick it out for third sets and see if you talk to more girls you get along with

Trust the process. If a house dropped you, its because they didn't think you would be a good fit. That wont change if you rush again.

Real Life On Your Own holds many options. Yours are just beginning. There will always be people who know more than you about situations you've never faced. As an uninitiated novice you will be unable to understand certain things about sorority recruitment. Keep your eyes, ears, and options open.

If you were to drop from participation during a formal sorority recruitment your motives should be clear, reasonable and defined. Life often only holds ONE opportunity at any particular ring. Treat your first sorority recruitment seriously and it may reward you with a lifetime of opportunity.

Give the process a chance till the final bid. However, if you are unhappy and close friends got in houses you liked, chances are they will have pull to get you in next year. I say...never give up. Keep in mind...you may fall in love with a house you didn't think you'd like. So... don't give up till you are 100 percent sure.

If you can be in a sorority now, be in a sorority now! Speaking from experience rushing as a sophomore is so hard and you will not get called back to many houses at all. Sororities all give you the same thing, even if it's not your top choice. You will have fun and you will meet your best friends.

first of all not many sororities do winter rush so i wouldn't rely on that. also, when you rush as a sophomore you have very limited chances because sororities only keep you each round if they really love you because they take only a few sophomores. it also looks bad to them when they see you dropped this year because what's to say you won't do that again next year if you don't like your houses again? stick through it until prefs, after bid day, and you get a chance to get to know the girls in your pledge class. if after that point, you really don't think you fit in then drop. but don't drop before you even got to the end
