what are the differences

phi sigma rho is the all women engineering sorority. i am not sure if they have a house or if they have winter rush. phi rho alpha is a local sorority meaning that the only chapter is in ann arbor. i believe they have a house but i don't know if they do winter rush

Phi sigma rho is the engineering sorority. They don't have a house but still go to parties and mix with frats. Phi rho alpha is not in Panhell and they are an off-campus regular sorority. Only thing is that they make you live in their house once you're in the sorority. And its really far.

Hi there! I am an alum of Phi Alpha, and the comments above are mostly correct. (I didn't mind the distance of the house from campus--it's a beautiful neighborhood, and Sigma Kappa/Alpha Phi are probably the same distance if not further out. There's also plenty of parking space for a car) Yes, we do winter rush, so feel free to check us out :)

- Smaller alumni network
- Fewer rules and no regulation from the Office of Greek Life can lead to hazing and other shady practices

Phi Sigma Rho (Phi Rho) is a national sorority that does not have a house on campus. They are part of Panhel and Michigan Greek Life.

- Panhellenic Council and Michigan Greek Life member
- Mixers with fraternities
- Sisterhood
- Academic focus creates a commonality between sisters
- No hazing

- Only accepts science/engineering majors
- More rules and regulation because of nationals and Panhel
- Sometimes confused for a professional organization, but reputation seems to be improving on campus
- Lowest GPA in Panhel

I can tell you for sure that Phi Alpha does not haze. (Honestly I don't think Phi Sigma Rho does either.) The haunted house thing was scripted for the show because one of the alums had a connection to the network and the network needed material, something like that. I admit it was entertaining to watch though.

I can't really help with close comparisons between the two houses, but I do remember hearing about how years ago some Phi Sigma Rhos harassed Phi Alpha for supposedly using some of their symbols and the Phi Rho nickname (even though Phi Sigma Rho was years off from joining Panhel and they are not Panhel nationally, and the symbols weren't even exactly the same/nobody knew about the "Phi Rho" nickname, so it was stupid). As a result of it, though, the blood sister of a PSR affiliate found out about and then joined Phi Alpha!

phi sigma rho - a few very cute girls but the rest pretty much what you'd expect out of an engineering org. generally seems kind of uptight because they are very focused on their academics. these girls probably would not have been interested in joining other sororities. mixes most with triangle but sometimes mixes with other small frats. not sure what the frats think of them, other than triangle loves them. not sure if they will ever get a house either but that's fine if you don't want to live in a house.

phi rho alpha - pretty random but has a much more favorable ratio of cute girls vs. kitchen girls. they do get some girls who were not happy with another sorority or dropped/were too busy to do rush. small frats seem to like them, nicknamed "fratority" for being very chill/nice. more diversity in the types of frats they mix with but still tend to stick to small frats. will also be getting a new house in the next couple of years because their current house belongs to someone else who's reclaiming it.

I hear Phi Rho Alpha is really hit or miss with their girls. Some I've met are quite cute, some are quite chill, and some are quite avoidable. Couple questions that could paint a clearer picture:

1) How large is Phi Sigma Rho?
2) Who has asked them to be pregame partners next year?

2. theta xi, kappa sig, triangle, delta chi

not sure about their pregame partners yet but i guess they had 3 frats ask them, can't remember who

pra is a lot like a smaller zeta except they actually know how to rage

i heard zeta psi was in the running for pregames maybe, they have def pregamed with zeta psi before
