Difference between State and Michigan is only the top 10% at my school could get into Michigan, while literally anyone in the 20-80 percentile range got into State.

QS World University Rankings:
Michigan: #1 Public School in America
State: Does not crack top ten. Below Ohio State. BELOW OHIO STATE.

As an out of stater from the West, no one would ever dream of going to State outside of Michigan unless they have family connections. Michigan is the dream for a lot of out of state kids, connected or not.

Ohio State is a flagship university. Like Penn State is in PA.

MSU is just a secondary state school... like Cal State, Iowa State, Minnesota State... not a good look to have a bachelors from a state school. Raises a lot of red flags.

Few rich kids I know staying at State were f-ckups in high school. Majority of the rich kids with brains rejected from here go to like K-College, Indiana (Kelley), Miami (Ohio), Loyola (Chicago) ... a handful started at State and then transferred here. Staying at and graduating from State? Peasant move. They're all legends in their own mind though - quite comical.

State kids all secretly love our campus and the city of Ann Arbor. East Landfill is extremely ratchet and ghetto. They "hate" Michigan students because we're assertive gunners and generally affluent, which intimidates middle class idiots. And because they couldn't get in, obviously.
