 Meeting of the National Board of Directors : April 8 and 9, 2016

Substance-Free Housing
Foundation President Hammond provided a report from the North American Interfraternity Council’s (NIC) Alcohol Commission. The Board discussed the report and how substance-free policy would best be implemented and enforced. Warren confirmed that discussions will continue and a suggested plan of action for fraternity-wide substance-free facilities adoption and budget implications will be presented at the fall meeting.

The undergraduate leaders of the Balanced Man movement also inspired fellow undergraduates and alumni to financially support the development of a mobile application for the BMP. The BMP App will ramp up the program’s effectiveness by making it easier to implement and manage so more time can be spent in meaningful conversation and experiences.

SigEp Michigan Alpha RLC is unique in that our chapter house and all fraternity events are alcohol and substance free by choice. The brothers feel that the brotherhood we are constantly striving to build does not require alcohol to exist. The chapter also works to encourage responsible decision-making and healthy behavior in regard to alcohol consumption outside of fraternity events.
