senior activity

Are seniors as active in Greek Life as underclassmen? I have been hearing that frat seniors don't come to as many mixers/opens/late nights and frat seniors are even less active. True? Why or why not?

No senior is really that active in any house. By the time your senior year rolls around, it really hits you in the face that your time here is coming to an end... and quickly.

You literally count down how many days you have left of your final Welcome Week. Then you count down every single tailgate until the last. You'll see so many girls crying at the final tailgate because it is their last.

Then you are trying to land a freaking job for when you graduate, or doing the LSAT, MCAT, etc...

All in all, your time is quickly ending, so instead of trying to make you social group larger, you make it smaller. Every minute is precious so you want to spend it with your absolute closest friends. That's also why upperclassmen tend to have their own tailgates and you don't care who is in what house. You have out with the girls who you are best friends with, and you live with them as well. In our house, we have girls that are in 3 different sororities. It just happens. You'll see when you are a senior.

Is this true for guys in fraternities too?

Yes, I'd say it's similar for guys as well. Although most guys seem much tighter with their fraternities and they tend to rent a house together. You still have guys that might be living with close friends in other houses, etc, but it's way more common for girls in sororities to live with girls in other houses.

But I'd say that seniors (both guy and girls) are way less involved in their houses because they have so much real world stuff that is starting. They still go to formals because those are precious and few, but missing a mixer won't make you sad. And if you do go, you are just gonna talk "senior talk" with upperclassmen and not give a sh#t who is climbing or falling in "the ranks".

Most of the seniors in my frat are socially active but don't usually come to chapter or philanthropy events and don't hold as many positions. sororitys may be different idk.

I've been to chapter like 3 times this year. You get busy with job stuff. I go to all the date parties though.
