how do sorority colonies get mixers?
by: ConsideringI'm considering joining AOPi, I was wondering how the social side of things would work as a colony. How did it work when Gamma Phi came? Also, is there even really that much interest for AOPi on campus? I'm not sure what I am potentially getting into.

There are way more frats than sororities on this campus so there will always be people to mix with. And if you are interest in greek life I really would pursue AOPi, at least for a couple of their events. From what ive heard from my gamma phi friends it was tough recolonizing but really rewarding.

You don't necessarily know all the girls in a sorority by going through regular recruitment. Being the first class in a colony is a big deal and they don't just pick anyone. Go see who's at the other events. AOPi has done this before at other schools and done it successfully. A colony can be your chance to shape the sorority the way you want it to be.

I would think really really really hard about having anything to do with AOPi ANYWHERE. Read some of the details about how they pulled the plug on a thriving chapter at Cal the week before fall recruitment. The entire episode at Cal was beyond shady and seemed to have a lot to do with the national wanting to make a power grab to take control of the very very valuable real estate in Berkeley. The move by National left nearly 200 sisters without a home. I would recommend doing some serious due diligence as based on how they behaved toward their sisters at Cal my suggestion would be TO RUN FOR THE HILLS. Honestly any house is better than AOPi. Not sure why Michigan Panhel felt that this national would be a valuable addition to the community based on their business ethics and standards? This national is questionable at best.

OP, I think you should do it. Being a founder would be such an honor and an experience you won't be able to get again. I would 100% do it.
AOPi nationals seems committed to making the chapter a success from what I have seen, that other person is just fear mongering and being a terrible person.

Right. Also I'm pretty nervous about the whole colonizing process because I clearly don't know which girls will actually be in the sorority. I would want to be sure that they are people I would get along with, you know?
