letters of recommendation

Hey y'all, I'm an incoming freshman from Atlanta, all my friends keep talking about how they need letters of recommendation for rush at the schools they are attending this fall. Do the sororities at Michigan require letters of recommendation too?

Totally depends. Some houses actually read them and consider them, others don't care at all. They can't hurt you but I don't think they're a big deal. In the south they are crucial but honestly, not a big deal in the north and most girls don't have them

The only case in which they're strongly recommended is for your legacy house(s) if you have that status. Makes it a little bit easier for houses to know exactly what your connection to their national organization is. Hope that helps!
