are sorority recs necessary?

I know at many Southern schools they're required and are an important part of the process, but at UM are they really needed?!

Not really, but a lot of sororities won't cut you first round if you have a rec. .

Can't hurt but most sororities don't acknowledge them much

Each sorority's policy is different when it comes to recs. If you can get one from someone who knows you well, it can be beneficial, but don't get one from someone who you just met just to have one.
