Forsure:
ZBT - just came back
Sigma Pi - just recolonized
Psi U - this upcoming fall

Speculation:
SAE - in 4 years
Sigma Nu - owns PIKE's house could probably come back if an interest group forms
Sammy - 4 years

I thought there already was an interest group of Sigma Nu active.

That fraternity sounded super made up, but I found it on Wikipedia. When a national fraternity has literally ten times more closed chapters than open ones, I don't get why we add these organizations to our Greek Community. I can't imagine this national organization (which filed for bankruptcy 5 years ago) has the resources to support a new chapter at Michigan. (Greek Life is big, success is dependent on housing, and we don't exactly have a 100% supportive administration. Plus, multiple fraternities show up and try to colonize every year.)

Pi Lambda Phi (PiLam) which is a little bigger nationally than TEP tried to re-colonize back in 2008 and it only lasted for 2 years until they closed in 2010 due to low numbers, no house and lack of Alumni support. I can't see TEP lasting too long on campus either. Beside I think we have too many fraternities on campus as it is. The fraternities that should come back are the ones that own a house on campus, have strong National support and a large Alumni base. These smaller fraternities, the ones that have less than 50 chapters or so just do not make it at UMichigan.

Yup, only a few exceptions to the "less than 50 chapters" rule at UMich - TDX, ADPhi, Chi Psi, Theta Xi, and Triangle - and they all own their houses in Ann Arbor.

At some schools, IFCs have a formal extension process, similar to what Panhel does at Michigan. Before another fraternity can show up and attempt to colonize, the other chapters on campus should have to agree that there is a need for an additional fraternity. Currently, we have several less than full chapters and only a few of the numerous colonies end up earning their charters, let alone establishing and sustaining a successful presence on campus.
