At Tulane it’s mostly freshmen who rush. Some sophomore transfers, but not any juniors. Tulanes Greek life is very different from other schools. Most sorority girls drop out by their senior year

Many schools offer 5 free spots for upperclassmen, as pledges for sororities.
The reasons are:
they generally become new friends with older members, helping retain the older ones,
they won’t burn out and stay more active as new alums, after all, it’s for life right?
they add maturity and no bs attitude to the PC, so lower chances for hazing,
they help blend the usual pledge class division within the sorority.
they often transfer from a good school without Greeks, WANT to be in a good sorority, are well-traveled, smart, confident and can contribute more ideas and qualities mixing up the stereotypes
Just saying that it worked at my sister’s larger Greek school.
