rushing as a sophomore
by: What do you think?I missed rush as a freshman and want to rush this year instead. I know lots of girls in Pi Phi and a few each in Kappa, Theta, and Chi O. They've told me I shouldn't have a problem getting a bid to any of those houses, but I want an objective opinion. Without knowing anything about my grades, looks, or socioeconomic status, what are my chances of getting a bid to those houses as a sophomore? I'm also a Chi O legacy but they would be my last pick of those four houses.

Pi Phi and Kappa only take about 2 maximum sophomores each year. Even if you have friends in those sororities, these friends will have no say in whether or not you will get a bid-it's the decision of the entire chapter. And during rush the seniors always vote against sophomores, so don't be too confident. As a sophomore, you need an almost unanimous vote across the entire chapter to get a bid which is near impossible. I would say your best bet is Theta because they give out tons of snap bids.

Depends on how many bids are available, regardless of which house. If members/pledges leave or if all bids weren't accepted during recruitment, a house may have COB. Panhel sets the number each year.
Am curious why you're considering kappa. Their rep is way down and aren't considered along with ChiO and PiPhi. Every house has great girls but kkg is more problematic than any other. Advice here is look harder before you leap.

i know pi phi and kappa both had sophomores in their pledge classes. both are really fun, kappa definitely closer but between the two you cant technically go wrong unless you are trying to branch out. dont know much about theta, but i would chose chi o over theta. go through rush and if a house wants you as a sophomore i think itll be pretty apparent of your chances at getting a bid

I think it depends on how many members you know. Grades make a difference. Theta did not take any sophomores last year but every year is different.
