would you rather

Imagine that its bid day and you only got a bid from a bottom tier sorority. Would you rather accept that bid or be a gdi and rush again next year hoping for a better result?

Depends on the sorority bc they have different reputations. One yes, another no.

What a stuck up question. The bottom tiers are still great sororities with great sisterhoods.

I would take the bid. The top sororities will see you who offered you a prior bid. Most likely top sorority won’t extend bid to girl who got bid from what’s considered bottom tier.. good luck

it should never be about bottom tier or top tier, it should be about if you like the sorority and the girls or not. why would you pay thousands of dollars throughout college to join a sisterhood you don't even like?

it would not hurt to accept the bid and go to bid day; especially with the bottom tiers (who have something to prove, unlike top who have been trying to skate by on reputation) the sisters have worked so hard during Recruitment to find women like you who they want in their sisterhood. if you're invited back (bc yea, those houses CAN, HAVE, and WILL drop PNMs, even adpi now) it's because the sisters see something in you that they like or think is a good fit and addition to their chapter, and if you have two houses and get a bottom tier or the one you weren't expecting that's because they wanted you more than the other house.

also, accepting the bid is NOT initiation or a binding contract to that sorority; you can drop your bid and go through the process again in the spring if you really want. if you only have one house, especially a bottom tier on bid day, you probably will get the same thing the next year.

TL; DR: bid day is free food and a great way to meet people. you can always leave or reject the bid (before initiation) and go through in the spring!
