What do people wear for business casual / formal? I want to be cute but I have no idea.

I think I wore a skirt with a cropped sweater for business casual (think going out to casual dinner with your friends)
for formal I wore a jumpsuit and heels (think something you would wear to a fancy dinner with your parents)

but also honestly the girls rushing won't really notice what you're wearing unless its really, really cute or really horrible (like if you show up wearing sweatpants and flipflops)
