TO INCOMING FRESHMEN: EVERY SORORITY IS GOOD. I truly believe that sisterhood is what you make of it in these sororitys, because greek life isnt the end-all be-all at tulane. that being said:
top: Kappa/Pi Phi
upper middle: AEphi/Chi O
lower mid: Theta/SDT
bottom: Phi Mu/ADPi
(in each tier it could go ranked with either one first depending on who u talk to i think)
and here are a couple of nice/general things about each sorority:
kappa- really pretty, huge partiers, loud and tons of personality, delicious looking chapter dinners/lunches, good bid day themes.
Pi Phi- really pretty, nice philanthropy trunk shows, open bar at events, huge partiers, style game usually on point, good bid day themes.
AEphi- IDGAF attitude, huge partiers, have cornered NJB market, usually kills greek groove, killing the comeback game.
Chi O- very put together, usually super involved on campus, eclectic mix of partiers and not, also kills greek groove.
Theta- really good philanthropy, mix of partiers/studiers, good chapter dinners, light/dark theta.
SDT- really sweet, usually the more quiet type (in my experience), seems like they have a really close sisterhood.
Phi Mu- great philanthropy, really smart, v underappreciated, fun to be around and will usually do the group project by themselves, good bid day themes.
ADPi- usually pretty nice, just redid ksigs house and its nice af (even tho far),has big/little early.

Here are a few more truths. Tulane has so few sororities so ranking is ridiculous. Meet tons of girls first semester and don’t drop out of recruitment just because you are dropped from a house.
Kappa-coastal vibe, social media presence is on point, wild, wild, wild, grades and major are not factors for new members, some stunningly gorgeous members, surgery and lifestyle upkeep, fun and mostly friends within Kappa.
Pi Phi-east coast, middle parts, wealthy, all about who you know and what you wear, huge alumni, not your typical Pi Phi chapter, cool vibes all around, pledges friend groups.
Chi O-lots of cliques within, active on campus, huge alumni support, loves southern girls, lots of rituals and cute girl next door types. Guys love mixing with them .
Theta-smart, lots of honors girls, but still down for fun, dark and light Theta attracts 2 types of girls so chapter is divided, super hot to plain pretty, Chicago vibes, active on campus, fun formals.
AEPhi-Japs cut from Pi Phi and Kappa, but not classy enough for Chi O and Theta, crazy partiers, and still recovering from suspension, some hot/some not, strong pledge class, Miami /NY vibes.
Phi Mu-Brains, Honors girls, leaders across campus, pretty, sweet, and
amazing sisterhood, great retreats, southern vibe, if it wasnt Tulane, this would be a top sorority.
SDT- less jappy than AEPhi, campy vibe, cute house, and strong sisterhood, not as popular on campus as they used to be and seem to be attracting a wide base from all over.
ADPi- newest on campus, stunning new house, huge alumni support, tend to offer bids after recruitment, but leadership is strong and the sisterhood is great.

Kappa/Pi Phi-Top
Chi O/Theta.-Mid
These pairs recruit the same girls and actually like each other. Many girls last year dropped when cut by these 4.
AEPhi/SDT- Mid
Recruit the same girls, but AEPhi does attract girls cut from top.
Phi Mu/ADP- Low
Recruit the same girls, and both attract great girls. Phi Mu also cross recruits with SDT but attracts the smartest!
Tbh rank is only based on popularity and partying. All sororities at Tulane are strong!

Im not in Greek life but know of many girls who fit and felt more comfortable in a “mid tier” compared to a “top tier” so went with their gut feeling over choosing to be “top”...

I’d agree that most girls drop once they’re cut from kappa/pi phi/chi o/theta. Also agree Aephi also gets a some girls that have kappa or pi phi vibes but we’re cut, and didn’t fit into chi o or theta. Except theta is lower than chi o and theta and aephi are on the same level.

I am in Greek life and chose a mid tier over a top, because everyone always says that the mid tier sororitys have better sisterhood. I rushed to make more friends, so I went with a mid. After rushing, I don’t think the sisterhood is all that different from any other sorority. A few of my best friends are in pi phi and kappa, and they love/care about their sisters. So just a disclaimer to freshmen, don’t let the people on this website that say kappa and pi phi are shallow sway u! They have good sisterhood too.
