Anybody know why Zeta discontinued recolonization?

ADPi may not attempt to colonize on more than one campus at a time. They also may be more realistic in their goals for a new chapter. Why do you think ADPi and Zeta are "similar" organizations ?

ADPi, as well asZTA does not colonize more than one campus at a time; however both of them have colonized/recolonized more than 5 chapters this school year.
ZTA took the wise step, when they decided that the colony was not right, at this time, to discontinue.

ADPi is going to have enough on their plate colonizing at Ole Miss this fall.

This shows you know nothing about national sororities and are going on nothing more than wishful thinking. ADPi is colonizing multiple campuses each semester just like ZTA, and just like ZTA, they will look to come onto Tulane at near chapter total. EVERY colonizing NPC shoots for chapter total when colonizing. When you come to a campus like Tulane with large chapters over 200 members, that is a tall order, but necessary to build a strong foundation for a new colony. Maybe ADPi won't be so selective and will take some of the 100 women that ZTA rejected...that's their prerogative, but ZTA had a right not to offer membership to those women. The major problem with this colonization is lack of interest in the campus. You may have a "need" but all the PNMs would rather join the existing chapters than a new colony. You need more than 150 women interested...you need 300-400. You can't blame ZTA for that. It's campus culture that women would rather shove themselves into massive chapters than possible suffer the stigma of joining a new chapter. Work on that and your next colonization will go better.

Zeta was not a good fit for Tulane. Phi Mu was able to sucessfully colonize so I don't think it is the campus.

by: Phi MU

Phi Mu only had to compete with chapters that were at a total around 150 not 250 when they colonized. It was a totally different ball game.

Why was Zeta not a good fit ? Why was Phi Mu able to colonize successfully ?
What is unique about Tulane's campus/sororities that makes it different from many other Greek environments ?

New groups do take lots of support and need time to get established. Best thing for ZTA to do is to pull out if they underestimated the expense and time committment.

Yes, ADPi will have a tall order to colonize at Ole Miss. Why........because the PMNs want another sorority but the current sororities do not. They don't want competition. Large numbers of girls are left out, more than enough for several new sororities.

It appears that Tulane would rather keep the current sororities with large membership than to have more sororities. Campus culture sometimes dictates who comes and stays.
However no sorority is obligated to offer bids if they don't want to do it.

The current sororities at Tulane want a new group - that is why they all voted for expansion.

Even though/if the current sororities wanted a new group, some of the comments indicate that there is a question whether or not a new group could get enough PNM's (after formal rush), to compete with the current groups.

Well, all we know is that Zeta could not compete. You can't predict what will happen with another group.

hopefully the next groups to colonize will have better luck

ZTA chose not to compete for their own reasons. Out of the 100 girls who were cut, we can assume that some of them would have taken a bid, if it had been offered. They then had 150 girls who were expecting a bit; so there were plenty of girls who were interested in ZTA but not enough to have a thriving colony, according to ZTA.
Of course there probably are other groups who may be willing to start out this way, but they will be reviewing the situation ZTA was in.........The PNM's are the ones that I feel sorry for, regardless of the reason(s) that they did not get a bid.

This is so sad for the PNM's who thought they would have great Zetas. Well, life goes on!!!

Not sure if there were 3 failed this year. Chi O pulled out of their colonization at Northern Kentucky last year and AOPi was able to sucessfully colonize this year.

Pi Phi originally discontinued their colorization at Chicago, but was able to colonize successfully after the PNMs rallied and found more women to join.

Don't act like AOPi walked in and successfully colonized NKU while XO failed. AOPi made a commitment to colonize hell or high water and had the same issues as XO finding quality members to start their colony. Finding enough women to start a colony on a campus with groups in the 200s to 250s is a challenge. Don't expect that any other group will have any better chances.

Thank you for your comment on April 6. You are absolutely right. Neither XO nor ZTA should be critized for their efforts . Sometimes the colonization doesn't work and that's when you leave it.

Does anyone know the reasons why girls were rejected from ZTA? Was it because of their GPA or lack of involvement at Tulane or some other reason?
