how old is too old?
by: Transfer
I'm transferring in the fall of this year as a junior, and I really want to be in a sorority. I didn't end up pledging at my current school, and I really regret it. I know a couple people at Tulane, but not that well, so I couldn't use that to help me.
Do I honestly have a chance of getting a bid, or is it just a waste of time?
Also, do any sororities do fall rush, so I wouldn't have to wait until the spring?

honestly, by the time you rush youre going to be a second semester junior, and it will be very hard to get a bid. sororities need dues, and the odds of them picking a girl with a year and half left at TU vs a girl with 3 and a half years left are not in your favor. definitely join clubs/groups/etc on campus to get to know people, but greek life is not soooo big where youre going to be missing out on a lot.
good luck at tulane! roll wave

Is there any informal recruitment in the fall, so I could get 2 years (maybe more, since I might not graduate on time because I don't know how many of my credits will transfer) out of it if I still tried to rush? I've literally always wanted to be in a sorority, and I really don't want to just give up on it.

You can try to COB in the fall, although your options will be very limited. I believe the only sororities that had COB's this fall were AEPHI and ADPI but who knows if that will be true next year. You can also explain how you are a junior, but will be here longer than two years to graduate which may help your situation. You can always try joining a pre-professional fraternity like AKPSI, Phi Sigma Pi, etc.

Ugh I hate this situation for you but probably not, I've never heard of a junior getting a bid. The only kind of informal recruitment in the fall is if someone drops or something, so this is really pretty rare that there is any informal recruiting in the fall, and pretty much the only way you would get a bid at this point is if you know a lot of people in a sorority already really well. I'm sorry! But there are so many other awesome ways to get involved and meet people. Like APO, the community service fraternity. They do big/little and all kinds of other stuff as well. And many other organizations like that
