how difficult is it to get a bid?

by:

I am rushing this spring and I am wondering how difficult it is to get a bid from one of the top sororities? I know girls who have already been approached by them. I haven't and don't have any close friends in any of the organizations. As just an average outgoing person what are my chancing of getting in?

PLEASE DONT GO INTO RECRUITMENT ONLY WANTING A "TOP" SORORITY. If you are a good fit for these organizations then you'll get a bid, it's as simple as that.

One thing to remember as recruitment draws closer is that recruitment is a numbers game and things happen. NO ONE, not even a sister or multiple sisters, can guarantee any girl a spot in any chapter.

That being said, you should really not get your heart set on a "top" sorority. It will ruin the experience for you. I know because I went in with the same attitude. Then I actually met all the organizations and realized how silly I was being. There were awesome girls I could be friends with in every round, and there were boring girls in every round, and there were girls I just didn't click with in every round.

THAT being said, it's really hard to calculate the chances of getting a bid to any one sorority. There are a LOT of factors: the sorority's list of girls they want and in what order, the girl's preferences and their order, the other PNMs' preferences, the amount of girls a sorority can cut, how many bids they can give out as dictated by AU and the organization's nationals...and more. I wish I could give you a better answer than this but I can't. Any other greeks have some advice here...?

I totally agree. I'm in a fraternity but the principle remains the same: there is no such thing as a top fraternity or sorority. Go in with an open mind and the experience will be worth it. If you go in only wanting one or two sororities, you should prepare to be disappointed.

this sounds corny af but think of greek organizations as ice cream flavors. there's no "bad" ice cream flavor, but people still have favorites because they have different tastes. same with Greek life - there's no "bad" place to be, because they're all different and cater to different girls. and you'd rather have some ice cream than no ice cream at all, right...haha

Also if you go in with the mindset that you want a "top" sorority, girls in chapters can call that attitude out REAL fast and it could hurt you during recruitment! If you sit and look bored in a sorority you THINK you don't like out of a rank, they wont ask you back even though you both might actually be a great fit! On the flip side, if you give copious amounts of love to the "top" ones and tell them how much you love them, they can see you only want them for status and they won't ask you back either. Just be you, and really really give every chapter a shot the first day, and ever chapter that asks you back the following. I went in wanting one chapter, and HATED them come recruitment. Recruitment can really change opinions and completely deteriorates the tier system.

This is SO true. Also we all have friends in other organizations. If a girl is being really rude or horrible, we WILL text our friends in other sororities and complain about her. I'm not lying, my friends and I are all in different sororities and we have a group chat. If a girl is being super rude to one organization, NO ONE wants that girl. It's not cool.
