rush

If I rushed this past spring but ended dropping because I didn't like the two sororities I ended up with, is there a chance i'll get into one I like this time if I rush again?

Chances maybe slim, but it will depend on the house(s) if they like you.

Few things:

1. You need to go in understanding that a lot of the top houses don't want to take sophomores. So, you already have that going against you.
2. It also depends what your attitude was like after you got cut from your favorites. Despite what this site may make you think, a ton of these girls in different chapters are still really close and friendly. We all deny it, but I know the first thing I did after each day was gossip with my roommate in another sorority about which girls we loved. I'm in what's considered a "good" sorority, and there have been multiple times where we cut a girl who came back the next year, because girls in other chapters told us she was rude, conceited, and impossible to deal with Day 2, after she got cut from her favorites. We want girls who aren't going to cause drama, both within our chapter, and within the Panhel community.
3. If you really want this, you need to go to ALL of their philanthropy and PR events this spring and next fall. Get to know the sisters, and seem genuine, not desperate. You have some major things working against you, but you do have a shot if you play it the right way.

This is a very solid post. Only thing I would elaborate is that being older means people have more dirt on you, which means they know more about you and might have some negative feelings from the beginning.

If you're good looking and/or (become) good friends with some of the sisters in the sororities you want, it will help you out a lot as you'll have solid connections who will vouch for you.

Look at it this way. It could be a blessing in disguise that you didn't get into the sorority you wanted because sometimes life leads us to different paths that we didn't plan on taking. Perhaps you should put into consideration that those 2 sororities saw something special in you, liked you a lot and wanted you to be a part of them, while the group you wanted to join didn't see that in you. NPC was right because chances are slim. You might end up trying too hard to make a good impression just so you can get in but the girls will sense and see that. Joining a sorority for this reason is wrong in my opinion. Personally, I think you should join a group where you feel most NATURAL and COMFORTABLE because trying to be someone you're not just to be accepted and keeping that up for 4-5 years is going to be very very difficult.
