cons of joining a sorority
by: .#3by: Alum
The major con is freaking out about getting into the top tier sororities. Sorority ranking doesn’t define a girl. She can be cute but not s crazy party animal, so she will not get into AXO. She might not have night enough GPA for DG after the first semester. But in the long run, it can be a blessing in disguise.
Another thing— expectation of amazing friendship and real sisterhood. A girl might get lucky and find a good friend, but usually this friendship will lasts until graduation only.( It is true, with a very few exceptions!)
Large groups of girls always have drama and gossips.
Sorority membership limits your freedom to some extent. You have to spend half of your winter break on campus getting ready for the rush, you have to come for obligatory meetings, sometimes saying no to more fun things to do.
However, pros outweighs cons. It is important to belong to a group, and for our social -media- friendship generation, organized socializing with frats might be the only way to get to know socially competent people on campus. Sorority is a safety zone and it might be a support system away from home.
