transfer question frat

by:

I transferred into a top tier frat here and I really don’t get along w the brothers. So I’m seriously considering disaffiliating. Would it hurt my chances if I rushed next semester different frats if I kept it on the DL? I mean it’s understandable, it’s very difficult to transfer into a frat and if the bros don’t vibe with u, then it’s pointless to stay in it

AU is not a big enough school to have "top tier" fraternities. As for disaffiliating, if you don't like the guys, you should do it. As for hurting your chances, that's really up to you, the fraternity you're leaving, and the fraternity you're joining. If you leave on a bad note, you can bet that some of your old brothers will do whatever is possible to ensure that you do not get to join your preferred fraternity.

What do u consider a “bad note”? I transferred into this frat from another school and I just didn’t vibe w these new brothers. Isn’t that understandable?

I do not know your situation so I cannot say what "bad note" means. What I can say is that regardless of the frat that you're in, some brothers will view your defection (as opposed to disaffiliation) as betrayal. Most fraternities need to get permission from the other frat before the switch can actually take place. Not "vibing" with the brothers probably won't leave a good taste in your current frat's mouth. You need to come up with a more concrete example of what isn't working. Give them a chance to help fix the situation. If after that happens, you still want to leave, then leave and see what happens. But don't just jump ship.

So in other words, I’m doing them a favor by leaving. They don’t even want me. This leads to believe that they honestly wouldn’t care if I joined a different fraternity, as they don’t even want me in theres in the first place

I would talk to your current frat's president. Get his perspective. If they want you to leave, some of the guys will still probably try to screw up you getting into the new frat. Something else to consider: are other frats even taking guys right now? Spring rush is over so you'll likely have to wait until the fall. How sure are you that this new frat will take you?
