grades after joining sorority

by:

I had trouble adjusting to the first semester and while I want to rush, I don't want my grades to suffer any. After pledging, did your grades drop because of your busy schedule?

My grades went up a lot honestly. Its super common to struggle first semester freshman year adjusting to everything, but rushing kind of put me on a better academic track. Depends on who you join, but most sororities have study halls as part of the new member process that are pretty helpful. My new member process took up a good amount of time, but I never felt like it got in the way of my schoolwork. My sorority also stressed pretty hard that schoolwork comes first so they were really accommodating if I felt like I needed to miss something to work on school stuff. I wouldn't worry, plus having a new network of fun, hard working girls will encourage you to study more with them, and the older sisters are great resources for academic help.

Honestly this depends on which sorority you join. If you join a sorority that is in the upper GPA range, then clearly the sisters value that. Yes- there are study halls and also you have more friends to study with/alongside. The GPA ranks don't shift too much year to year, or semester to semester, so clearly some sororities on a positive trajectory and others just on same trajectory.

My gades went up because I met more people who were my major. It all depends on how much you put into school. Your grades won't magically get better or worse without you making a change.
