getting bids
by: CuriousI am rushing next semester and I was wondering what the chances of getting bids are for a lot of the fraternities. Do you have to know some brothers at a fraternity if you want to get a bid? More specifically, are AEPi and DX known for having a very selective process? Is it as simple as gelling with the guys at events and getting a bid from there?

Getting a bid depends entirely on your relationship with the fraternity. Some fraternities need more guys so yes, they will give out more bids. Others can afford to be more selective.
You do not have to "know" the brothers but you have to rush them in order to get a bid. You should definitely attend as many rush events as possible. The key is for them to remember you.
It's probably easier to get a bid to AEPi then Delta Chi but that's just me.
I think the biggest thing is that you should rush EVERYWHERE and see where you're fitting. I went into rush with mentality that I wanted only one fraternity and I quickly realized that I wouldn't be happy there. I am glad I expanded my search and visited other houses.
