Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 1.9 My new member period was great. I was close with my pledge class and the new member educator was an angel. It all ended once I got formally initiated. I was almost immediately pushed away by the older members, belittled and infantilized by sisters who had been there for longer, and left with virtually no support system after most of the sisters I liked went special status/early alumni. The turnover and burnout rate is very high. I was harassed multiple times for not knowing how things worked and for being on the quieter side. I had terrible timing and became an initiated member right before formal recruitment season. The vetting process for giving out bids is just as horrendous as the rumors about it are. when it comes down to it, they only care if you can pay the dues and not if you are a good sister. They are nice during your new member period so they can get your money. Then toss you to the curb once they have you locked in after initiation. I only lasted a semester and a half, most of my pledge class was considering leaving, and the people who stay after all of the drama and dysfunction are 'not great' to put it mildly. I should know, I had the misfortune of living with them. If you get nothing from this review please take this. DO NOT LIVE IN THEIR HOUSE. My roommate got switched at the last minute and without my knowledge to a sister who had many known 'problems'. She became uncomfortable to live with after she broke house rules and was acting destructive toward herself and other sisters less than a week after I moved in. I had no support system to help me deal with her. In normal uah dorms, there are resident directors who can set up meetings and facilitate agreements between roommates but, there is no such thing in the Greek houses. The sister in question was left to run around rampant and it got so bad that I essentially moved out by the end of the month. Our dysfunctional standards team did virtually nothing. This, along with the failure by the college to perform basic maintenance in our house. (Yes UAH owns our house.. it's terrible) and the refusal of our director of chapter property at the time to do anything (or to be a pleasant person in general) virtually destroyed my life for a semester. All of these issues can be traced back to a key issue, none of the officers are capable of their positions. There are a few gems but for the most part, they are under trained and couldn't care less. At the worst, they are on a power trip of the only elevated position they will ever have in their lives. Even if the officer's intention started out good, aoii's hq is only a money collector and offers them no actual support. These sisters are just praying they don't have another ELC visit/investigation. This organization is embarrassing and our founders would be ashamed of our chapter and headquarters. Also, did I mention that they are terrible with money in general??? Headquarters is terrible about keeping track of dues and transparency. The members are terrible as well. Expect to pay hundreds more per semester than what they tell you during recruitment. Some events cost extra money plus the inevitable fines you will accumulate due to missing the tons of mandatory events/requirements each semester. There are two other sororities on campus who I am sure have varying levels of the same dysfunction.. but cost less money

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 2.0 This AOII chapter is by far the worst and I should know since I am currently involved in this sorority. Headquarters needs to be involved and do something about the disrespectful President and her minions. The members of this chapter have no say in what goes on and the “rules” they try to enforce are ridiculous. Our founders would be disgusted to even lay a finger upon our doors. They never have anything planned the way they should nor do they set a good example for the newer members or pnm’s. If the president hasn’t even raised their amount they are required to do for our fundraiser then why should we, lead by example mam. The girls who are elected into positions are unfit and should not be able to do it since a lot of the girls last semester struggled academically, physically, and mentally due to the lack of help from their officers and so called “sisters.” If you are even considering this sorority just run far away and never look back they don’t want you as a sister they just don’t want another ELC visit. There are two other Panhellenic sororities on campus that would love to have you as their sister just do not choose AOII they’ll take your money and toss you to the curb.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 2.5 AOII is the smallest sorority on campus with the worst retention. Very inclusive though, but a lot of people say it's because they have such a hard time getting girls so they take anyone. They are VERY expensive, and their campus involvement went down drastically when the class of 2020 graduated in the spring. Little involvement now and the newer classes a cliquey. They were the only sorority to not meet quota in formal recruitment this year. The girls are nice though!

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 2.5 AOII is the most expensive sorority on campus, by a lot. They are super inclusive, but are not good at recruitment and get the fewest girls each year. And because they're so expensive, they have the worst retention rates. The girls are super nice, but after the spring's girls graduated, they lost all the girls who were involved on campus.

Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority at University of Alabama Huntsville - UAH 2.0 They have usually always been known to be a group of really nice girls except for this year. The newer class they got have been really rude and very cliquey, it's obvious on their social media. Some of the older girls can be nice but it seems like the new class is taking over and are not welcoming.
