legacy
by: PNMWhat does being a legacy of a sorority do for you during recruitment? Would it help at all?
#1by: Depends
#2by: Actually...
Being a legacy can work against you. I know that one UMD sorority dumped the sister of a sorority member because they didn't like the guy (house) she (sorority member) was dating. Another house, dumped the daughter of a sorority alumnae because the women was a member of the housing board of the sorority and didn't like her rules. Both houses are on College Avenue and NOT on the Graham Cracker.

Most chapters do their research and will know that you're a legacy once you walk in the door. However, many chapters aren't required to take every legacy that walks in their door. Some legacies may even get dropped by that chapter right after the first round of recruitment.
So, depending on the chapter, your legacy status might help you a little, but I wouldn't bank on getting a bid from them just yet - they'll likely be more focused on who YOU are and what you bring to the table.
