grades for pnm

how much do grades matter? i'm a sophomore thinking about rushing next spring and i really messed up my first semester last year. i did so much better my second semester but my overall gpa is still dragged down just below a 3.0 right now. :(

For frats all you need is above a 2.5. For sororities, it depends by house but having a low GPA (below 3.0) can definitely hurt your chances.

I know my sorrority wouldn't even consider a pnm if she had under a 3.5

considering the average GPA of a couple sororities (SDT, DG, AXO, AOPi) are nearly 3.5, i wouldn't be surprised.

so it doesn't matter that i showed significant improvement between the first and second semester of my freshman year? and my major is known for being a gpa killer? and let's say i get like a semester gpa of 3.5 for this semester....so i still have like no chance?

Girlfriend, go through Spring formal rush. It like the lottery...you can't win if you don't play. I rushed as a first semester sophomore (dropped a semester because I had mono) and went to three preferences. I chose the best sorority for me.

maybe you can compensate for a lower gpa with higher test scores. Or work on your extra curriculars to build a more rounded persona
