Whether it's the mom or the daughter or BOTH??? This whole thread is stupid. Your daughter can re rush as a sophomore and see if she does better. Anyone looking...if you got cut rush 1 though for tops or mids... chances of doing well as a sophomore are slim. Truth. You can be friends w 1 or even 5 girls in a sorority BUT to get a bid - the whole house votes. Once you were already voted out - slim. If you went through rush already and didn't find a fit - you won't in the future.
Why girls went on and on about sk and adpi...she wasn't interested. If AOPi wasn't interested in rush, you were dropped then you won't be picked up in COB.
The only girls who get bids out of rush - don't rush and are friends w girls in a house. If you do get a bid out of that- you probably don't fit w the girls and you end up on snapped podcast. The people on snapped or who hate greeks...got cut or didn't fit in the house and were unhappy. Just the way it is.
The only way rush works out is if the sorority needs a few due to people graduating and they have a small rush. Small rushes have a lot of tears! I knew 3 girls who went through small rush and did not get bids and were heartbroken. They thought you go and get a bid. No.

True... what the above post said. Next year is a fresh crop of girls who go through rush. If you re rush as a sophomore and were cut... you were already discussed and cut. Girls - once your on the other side you'll see how much work rush is for the actual sororities. It's a lot of work - you were discussed.
If you were cut...houses will say...didn't we cut her already? Even if a few girls like you - the whole house chooses.
If the COB choices aren't for you... then if I were you..I would move onto a new activity.
Sounds harsh...but if you went through the rush process and none of the houses you liked - liked you back... for whatever reason - it isn't clicking. Most girls who find a fit...fit into a few houses and by pref night were happy w either house they got.

This post is just plain odd??? The mother looking for COB yet the daughter got cut from the houses she wanted and didn't like the bottom tier. Sooooo odd! If your cut during rush why are you then looking to join? Makes NO sense. Usually the houses that don't make quota are the bottoms. The mids to the tops - girls want. It's not embarrassing...its ODD! If you go through the process of rush ... and you didn't find a house you fit with who kept you ... why are you or your mother on greek rank???

The snapped podcast, you... the people happy in the greek system are normal. Greek rank should just talk rank and keep things light and fun. The only people who hate on Greek life either got cut or put a mask on to get a bid and are unhappy. It's just within. It's a sorority or fraternity but like any club you try out for... all clubs have try outs... if your a fit ...you get in. If your not...you get cut or can't handle it...like your on a team technically yet are a bench warmer. You wanna be part of the team somehow yet sulk your not really part of it cause you don't fit. Normal people find a fit, unhealthy people dulk and drag everyone else down. The only ones unhappy are the sulkies. The happy people are happy which angers the sulkies.

Thanks for the message on Snapped the Podcast. I thought it was eye opening. Listened to it this weekend and I do think many of you are right, sorority life wasn’t right for my daughter anyway. She rushed because the friends on her floor did / friends from HS etc, but she’s not really a sorority girl. She’s not a partier and is majoring in electrical engineering and has a tough schedule anyway. Definitely don’t want her to be 1 of 5.

i’m so glad u listened! hopefully ur daughter knows she isn’t alone in feeling bad about the recruitment process, it’s barbaric and doesn’t speak to her value. she will have a ball in college without a sorority

Even if you made a friend during rush or in your dorm...if a top or middle dropped you during rush, you were discussed and dropped. If you get a bid just cause any house needs a number for $$$$, you won't fit in. Rush is a process for a reason. This whole thread is stupid. A mom on greek rank stupid. Why the mom comments? Is it the mom or this girl looking for a way into a house she was cut from? Any girl that would fit into a top or mid house didn't rush and is a good friend of a girl in a house and the house wants her. Truth. These threads are stupid...
