rushing as a sophomore

I rushed as a sophomore...
I'm in Tridelt. I was in the rounds til the end of Tridelt, Theta, alpha phi, kd, aopi etc.....

My advice - be yourself, explain why you want to be in a sorority - it's a commitment.

Im definitely independent natured BUT I really like being part of a group. I always have girls to hang out with, to be honest, I wish I had rushed as a freshman- I really like it. I knew the reps going in, but I felt co portable in the houses I mentioned.

Tridelt I felt the most connected too... the girls I met I clicked with the best. You'll feel it. But I honestly would be happy in all of the sororities I mentioned. I honestly liked all the girls.

There are a few sophomores in all the pledge classes.

I think it's less age and more click.

It's how you click in the houses. We choose by girl - not choosing a freshman over a sophomore.

But why did you drop out in the middle of rush???

When you go through rush til the end...on pref night ... you'll see the same group of girls at the 4 houses. Some girls pref Alpha Phi/Theta, some Theta/Tridelt, Tridelt/Alpha Phi, some Theta/KD or KD/Tridelt.

I'm in one of those houses - we were all choosing between those 4. You may pick 1 as top choice, you'll be happy in any of the 4. Similar girls.

We had a few sophomores in our pledge class.

I'm in 1 of the top mid tiers mentioned. Agree...its by click/person.

Why did you drop out in the middle?

I also agree...usually girls stay in a tier during rush. The top 4 mentioned- usually the one group picking between 2 out of the 4. Sometimes they may have a top and 1 top mid tier .... you pretty much see the same girls pref night in the tiers choosing.

Pref night can go anyway. Behind closed doors ...the whole house has to choose you. You'll have to click with all the girls you meet in a house to get a bid. If 2 like you and 1 does not...your out.

I liked my 2 houses I preffed so I'm happy.

It's a click versus sophomore versus freshman. But agree...if its between you and freshman on top list...may choose a freshman over sophomore.

You'll know by the middle to the end of rush how your doing. What houses are interested in you/who your interested in. Choose a house you want to be in versus just reputation because you'll spend a lot of time.

The frats hang in tiers too.

Honestly...same cattiness in my upper mid as top tier. Don't think more chill. It's not.

You would be miserable in a top tier if you rush this late in the game.

I just don't understand why people go into recruitment already thinking they want certain houses. If the houses you mentioned dropped you during recruitment and that's why you dropped last year, please don't focus on just wanting those houses. Also, this time around, try and be open to any of the houses.

Why did you drop out in middle? Were you dropped by certain houses and you now want to strategize a way in? Or was it personal and you couldn't do it for personal reasons.

The problem if you strategize is .... your not yourself and you will not feel comfortable. You should pick a house you feel comfortable in. If you don't...your strategic...you probably won't naturally fit in and it's not fun for the house or you.

The girls who choose organically seem happy. The girls who strategize never seem comfortable in house. Or life. Be yourself, see what fits. If you fit naturally a top house or top mid will pick you.

Maybe/Maybe not
If you dropped out in the middle of rush last year yet are hoping for a spot in a ranked social top one...maybe.

Nothing wrong with wanting a certain house. But when you go through, as you already did, you see where you get naturally dropped. If your not clicking at the 6 houses mentioned, your not a fit for them.

Not to bring up the alpha phi snapped...why she was so unhappy. She started saying and dressing a part to get a bid and then was miserable. If your yourself - you'll find a real fit. If you dress and act a certain way to get a spot, your not being your true self and your taking a spot from someone else.

The girls in the top 4 are similar. If your not naturally fitting in to all 4 and then the 2... its not a right fit.

If you want to be happy...for all rushees... see where you like and who likes you and pick that house.
