DFSL has specific expectations (completing 8/13 expectations, paperwork, attendance, etc.) for every Greek chapter to earn recognition. Recognized with distinction means the chapter completed all 13 expectations, paperwork, attendance and had no behavioral issues. Recognition means they completed the minimum required. Probationary recognition means they didn't complete all the required expectations. The chapter is then given a list of required tasks to follow for that year like meeting with an advisor. This doesn't always mean they're on social moratorium (SOMO) but in some cases it can (ex. Phi Sigma Sigma was on SOMO for this semester but that ended at the end of 2017).

Probationary recognition does not change a chapters ability to recruit whatsoever.
