is it even worth it
by: lolsoo, ive been thinking on rushing in spring and I'm not a huge drinker, don't go to tailgates, but will go to parties sometimes, so is it even worth going through it? Guess I'm just afraid the girls wont have similar values or most people will just want to join or be in it for that part like literally all i see is tailgating and parties on every sorority page.

There are numerous reasons to be in a Sorority. It's not all about drinking and partying. Every Sorority is dedicated to their national philanthropy and helping everyone else's. Honestly I'm not a drinker and there are definitely other people in my Sorority that aren't drinkers as well. There is also a lot that goes on to keep a Sorority going that doesn't involve partying.

Sororities are more than that. It's about finding a group of women that you click with and want to accomplish amazing things with.
Each sorority raises thousands of dollars for charity and participates at TerpThon. Last year at TerpThon we raised more than a million dollars. We also have inter-Greek weeks like Homecoming and Springfest and we all get together and play sports and do scavenger hunts. A bunch of houses plan their own retreats and do things like painting classes and laser tag and escape rooms. All sororities plan pride events where sisters get together and travel to pumpkin patches or haunted houses during the Fall. A lot of sororities are athletic and like to do yoga or go to SoulCycle together. My sorority personally has a lot of movie nights and drinks a lot of bubble tea. My sisters support me and come to my open mics and this semester I went to a sister's TedTalk.
It's not all partying. Sometimes it is hard work, getting ready for recruitment and bid days. There is a lot of team building and spirit days and insomnia cookie orders. I went to one tailgate this semester and I don't drink. I love my sorority. They're my people.
