2). Since you are some of the people that have to get your opinions from other people rather than basing them on your own experience, I'm going to tell you the truth.

Being in a Sorority is a lot more than just partying. There is so much more that goes on. If you are only looking for a party DO NOT GO THROUGH RECRUITMENT.

Sororities are looking for people that are interested in being leaders, taking positions in the chapter, and people that will help when it comes time for recruitment. There are tons of requirements that each chapter has to fulfill when it comes to participation and chapter involvement. If you are already struggling with grades and can't add any extra to your plate, then joining a Sorority is not for you. If you think you are extra cool and don't need to be involved other than partying, don't go through Recruitment.

There are amazing women in ALL of the chapters here at UMD. They all party and they all work really hard to keep their chapters going. So if you aren't willing to do anything to support a Sorority other than go-to parties, don't join one.

Honestly those kinds of people end up going inactive, if they last long enough to get initiated. They want to party but don't want to put in the work to keep the Sorority going.
