Not at all.. A lot of women join their sophomore year and I highly recommend doing it!!

Since formal recruitment isn't til Spring, a first or second semester soph will have the grades and acclaimation to the university, making them a stronger candidate as a recruit. Your more adapted to the rigors of college life and mature to allocate time and energy or prioritize your schedule. Yes, do it! Absolutely!

Get in touch with the Panhellenic Association at the University of Maryland. They would be the best source for accurate information.
